Victoria-India Sports Innovation Industry Roundtable: opportunities to strengthen high-performance sporting ecosystems

The Australia India Institute facilitated a roundtable discussion in Melbourne on 31 October 2025, in partnership with Global Victoria, Sports Tech World Series (STWS), and Victoria’s Commissioner to South Asia. The event was part of the Australia Sports Innovation Week (ASIW) 2025 and brought together leaders from government, academia, and industry to explore opportunities in sports innovation and technology, fostering collaboration and strengthening ties between Victoria and India.

Victoria has long been recognised as a global sporting leader, with world‑class infrastructure, elite athlete pathways, and a thriving innovation ecosystem. With its ambition to advance a high‑performance sporting system and preparations to bid for the 2036 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, India represents a pivotal partner for collaboration.

This discussion was built on the Australia India Institute’s sports report on ‘Advancing High-Performance Sports: VictoriaIndia Opportunities’, which highlighted pathways for bilateral capacity building and innovation-led collaboration across Victoria and India. It shared insights on how Victoria and India can jointly advance solutions in sports science, research, and technology – from athlete performance and sports tech applications to commercial opportunities in innovation. The roundtable provided market insights, shared learnings, and vital connections with leading organisations driving growth in both regions’ sports sectors through innovation and technological advancement.
