Australia and New Zealand Sports Technology Awards 2023: Industry Awards celebrating unsung innovators from the region’s A$4.25 billion sports tech sector

(Brisbane, QLD – September 1, 2023) – The sports tech sector in Australia is now worth AUD$4.25 billion, equal in value to Australia’s Fintech sector¹. But this important industry sector, and the innovators that fuel it, aren’t always given the attention they deserve.

The Australia and New Zealand Sports Technology Awards (ANZSTA) aims to change this by celebrating outstanding companies, teams, and individuals using technology to create innovative solutions and experiences in sports, both on and off the field of play.

“Whilst Australia is great at celebrating our sporting accomplishments on the field, there’s an entire ecosystem of excellence behind the scenes that we need to do better at championing and acknowledging.” said Andrew Walton, Managing Director, STWS. “With the Brisbane 2032 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Australia has a once in a generation opportunity to position itself as global leaders in this rapidly growing industry sector.”

By 2030, two years out from the Brisbane Games, the global sports technology market size is expected to reach USD$55.14 billion (AUD$84.82 billion) growing at a CAGR of 20.8% from now².

Rapid growth in sports tech is reshaping the sports industry as we know it, leading to better performance from our athletes and teams; improving the fan experience; and unlocking new revenue streams that grow sport’s long-term financial sustainability.

The 2023 ANZSTA Winners were revealed at an Awards Ceremony Brisbane, QLD this week as part of the Australia Sports Innovation Week (ASIW), the Southern Hemisphere’s largest and most respected sports technology experience. The ANZSTA and ASIW are both initiatives organised by locally based sports tech consulting and advisory firm STWS.

Companies nominated for an ANZSTA are assessed by a judging panel of industry experts representing industry, government, and academia.
