StepUp Air is a wearable determined to improve the training efficiency of athletes by up to 20% by precisely monitoring breathing in real-time. It combines both hardware – a connected chest strap integrating a state-of-the-art sensor technology measuring breathing frequency and volume, and heart rate. And software – a dashboard for sports coaches for real-time monitoring of the team performances and fatigue, and an app on Garmin sports watch for players. By measuring breathing with StepUp Air, the customized algorithms detect each individual’s performance zones with actual body limits in real-time, giving precious information on the player’s health and commitment. Coach gets informed when athletes are exercising too hard so that they can adapt their training accordingly to push their limits further as well as avoid potential injuries or early burnout.
We are in the process of getting ready for our first clinical trial with our wearables. We expect the trial to happen once the teams start training again in Scandinavia. We expect to write a scientific study based on the data which we gather by measuring players’ internal load in a completely different way.
