Surging, Women’s Sport in India Will Impact the World!
Bhavi Devchand, Founder of The Inside Edge Project, professional cricketer turned high performance coach and wellbeing specialist, will be delivering a keynote at Australia Sports Innovation Week (ASIW) in Melbourne on Wednesday 29thOctober 2025 at the MCG on this topic.
As the founder of The Inside Edge Project, she works with athletes and teams, particularly those from cross-cultural backgrounds – creating culturally aware, psychologically safe spaces for growth. Her work includes mentoring athletes through systemic challenges in India, facilitating honest conversations around belonging, and redefining performance on more human terms from blending lived experience with deep psychological insight.
“I’ve spent the vast majority of my career in and out of teams, always told I had talent, but could never quite produce results consistently. This led to a constant search, always looking for the next edge that will get me ahead or even just catch me up. I fell deep into the world of high performance, chasing this perfection I thought was required,” said Devchand.
“My inner curiosity has always leaned heavily towards our family Indian heritage. Being able to travel, connect and communicate with many players from Bangalore and Mumbai it was impossible to ignore the surging energy within India from women’s sport and how it will impact the world!”
The iconic and legendary Virat Kohli has publicly recognised the achievements of India’s women’s cricket team in recent years and how they have revolutionized perceptions towards women’s sport, driving increased engagement, commercial success, and financial stability.
“You can’t just look at the men for the improvement of sport in any country. It has to be a collective sports culture and it includes everyone. And women’s sport is a massive part of it,” Kohli said.
“We have so much talent in women’s sport, not just cricket, but all the other sports. We have had great individual athletes over the years – tennis, badminton, wrestling, and boxing.
At ASIW, this topic and theme has timely relevance as we embrace for the incoming energy from the India’s women’s cricket and football teams into Australia in 2026.
ASIW will create the most valuable experience that showcases and celebrates innovation in the leadership of data, digital, content, careers, research and technology services in sport by connecting collaborators, enablers, investors, creators and partners from all cultures, backgrounds and locations.
